Bathroom remodeling, whether for a master or hall bath, can make a big difference. Although there are many simple things you can do to update your bathroom yourself, like new faucets, lighting and fresh paint, a total bathroom remodel can be tricky. We’ve put together a list of do’s and don’ts to help you as you begin to plan your remodel.
We do understand that everyone has different tastes, however, there are some things that we recommend everyone does when it comes to a bathroom remodel. Here are our top three.
We’ve come in behind homeowners who have tried the DIY route and run into problems. So, one of our biggest don’ts if you’re planning a total bathroom remodel: don’t do it yourself. It’s one thing to repaint and replace your faucets, but it’s another to tear out the entire room and re-tile and replace a toilet. There are many homes throughout Manchester and other local communities that are older. Older homes often need upgrades to the plumbing and electrical systems to meet code. Of course, you can call a plumber or electrician yourself, however, when you hire a bathroom remodeling company, they’ll handle everything from permitting to scheduling.
Our next big don’t is don’t forget to plan. Whether you’re working with a remodeler or doing it yourself, planning is key. A good plan includes what you are doing, how long it will take (think about lead times for your vanity and how far in advance your countertop needs to be ordered), as well as a detailed budget. You don’t want to get your bathroom torn apart only to realize that the tile you want is backordered or that you didn’t get enough and now it’s discontinued.
