6 Kitchen Remodeling Trends That Are Everywhere

If you’re remodeling, you probably want a more modern space. You may want more storage. Depending on your goals for your kitchen remodel, some of these trends may be a great way to get inspired!

6 Kitchen Remodeling Trends That Are Everywhere

Minimalistic Style

This is one of the top kitchen remodeling trends we’ve seen. Rather than choosing ornate cabinetry, homeowners are opting for natural woods, metals and sleek cabinet fronts. Many are also opting for open shelving on one wall or around the stove for easy access to plates and serving dishes. Add some simple knobs and drawer pulls and you’ll have a minimalistic look in your new kitchen.

Cabinet-Front Appliances

This isn’t a new kitchen remodeling trend, but it’s one that seems to be more popular than ever before. Cabinet-front appliances give your kitchen a clean look because everything looks uniform. This is a decision you’ll need to make before choosing your cabinets and appliances, as only some cabinet lines have appliance fronts and only some appliance manufacturers offer products ready for cabinet doors.

Color

There are many ways to add color to your kitchen remodel. Some of the most common today include:

  • Bold-colored cabinets
  • Bright or multi-color backsplashes
  • Colored appliances
  • Contrasting countertops
  • A painted ceiling
  • Wallpaper

Natural Stone in Unexpected Places

We’ve talked about the way a waterfall countertop can really change your kitchen’s appearance, however, that’s just one place you can put natural stone that’s not expected. Another is your kitchen backsplash. Yet another is kitchen flooring. If you are planning to install shelving in your kitchen rather than cabinets in some places, you can opt to use the same stone for shelves rather than the expected wood.

Larders & Pantries

We all need a place to store our dry goods. Rather than plan a hidden pantry, why not let everyone know where things are in a fun and organized manner? Some ideas include adding semi-translucent pantry doors that open into the kitchen so you can easily see everything. If you need more space and want a walk-in pantry, choose a fancy old-fashioned screen door. There are many fun ways to make your dry goods storage a feature in your kitchen remodel.

Unique Materials

Your kitchen remodel doesn’t have to include the standard materials. Materials that are unique to your kitchen can include reclaimed wood, copper and brick. Add reclaimed wood to your walls or the backs of your cabinets that face an adjoining room. Consider a copper backsplash or range hood. Brick can be used as a backsplash or backing to your cabinets where you have a bar area.
