4 Reasons to Consider a Whole-Home Remodel

With the housing market red-hot and home prices skyrocketing, there is no better time to consider a whole-home remodel than now. Even if you’re not weighing the pros and cons of moving or remodeling, you may wonder if it’s time to talk to a home remodeling company about bringing your home into this decade (or even century). We have several great reasons to think about a major remodel for your home.

The House Doesn’t Meet Code

If you’re thinking about a kitchen or bathroom remodel, you may quickly find out that your electrical or plumbing system doesn’t meet current code. If that is the case with your home, a whole-home remodel may prove a better value in the long run than just updating a portion of the wiring or plumbing. You’ll gain two other benefits: your home will be safer and when it’s time to sell, it will sell for more if it’s up to today’s codes.

Many Little Things That You Want to Change

Let’s assume you’re planning on remodeling your kitchen, but you also want a new window in the kitchen plus a larger window in your dining room. It makes sense to just do it all at once. But what about the other little things that bug you? Share with your home remodeling company all those things that don’t work for you. They may have a better solution than what you were originally considering and still be able to stay within your budget.

You’re Planning Several Remodels in Future Years

Do you and your spouse have a list of changes you plan on making to your home over the next few years? Talk to your home remodeling company about a whole-home remodel versus a phased remodel over the next 3-5 years. You may quickly realize that the interest you’ll be paying on a HELOC or by doing a cash-out refinance is much less than multiple remodels over several years. Plus, remodeling can be stressful and disruptive. Why not do it just once?

Your Changing Family

Families change over time. Some of those changes necessitate remodeling. Perhaps you’ve remarried and your blended family could use more bedrooms and an additional bathroom. Or maybe your aging parents are moving in and you need a suite on the first floor. Your remodeling company may be able to not only help with a whole-home remodel, but also an addition for more space to make your home work better for your changing family.
