Residential Design and Remodeling Estimator
GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
The Residential Design and Remodeling Estimator will have responsibility for estimating and managing project bids from start to finish. Projects will range from $10,000 – $500,000.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES supported by an extended team:
- Consults with Preconstruction team, President, and other team members to become thoroughly familiar with the project requirements and criteria
- Assists, as necessary, with the Business Development team to bid and secure projects
- Reviews and becomes familiar with owner contracts
- Provide relevant information to Accounting (budget summary, schedule of values, etc.)
- Assists in job buyout including writing scopes for subcontracts
- Establishes and maintains communication with clients, subcontractors and suppliers
- Performs estimating functions as requested with assistance
- Prepares and updates database list of subcontractors and suppliers
- Tabulates and evaluates bids
- Performs quantity survey
- Reviews construction documents and understands scope of work to bid
- Writes scopes for each trade
- Executes take-offs of construction documents
- Inputs take-offs of computer spreadsheet
- Obtains pricing for materials
- Obtains bids from subcontractors
- Prepares cost analysis for material, labor, and equipment
- Subcontractor and overhead costs incurred in the installation of items
- Where predetermined standard(s) are not available, makes an estimate
- Develops and maintains resource information on productions, vendors, subcontractors, and government requirements
- Attends departmental meetings as required
QUALIFICATIONS:
To be a successful Estimator with G.M. Roth Design Remodeling an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.
- 3-5 plus years construction estimating experience
- Must be a self-starter and able to work with minimal supervision
- Detail oriented
- Effective listening, written, and oral communication skills
- Excellent organizational skills
- Able to exhibit a high level of confidentiality
- Logical and efficient, with keen attention to detail
- Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
- Knowledge of multiple estimating tools
