2014 Cornerstone Awards Series – Turnquist Kitchen Remodel

Here’s the second feature in our series of articles about the 2014 Cornerstone Awards- a contest for builders and remodelers, sponsored by the New Hampshire Builder’s Association. Every year, G.M. Roth Design Remodeling enters several examples of our best work into the  Awards, and this year was no exception. We’re honored to be able to feature several examples of our work that won, once again. The project detailed here is the Kitchen Remodel we did for the Turnquist family, and we hope you enjoy it as much as we did.

2014 Cornerstone Awards Series Kitchen Remodel

We started by eliminating the peninsula and crafting a unique and stylish island.  By designing a double oven in the corner, we met a specific appliance request without using too much space, and used a cook top over a drawer base to minimize the look of the appliances in the small space. This new design created a round table at the end of the island for comfortable dining.  The custom stove hood is surrounded by a beautifully designed and installed tile back splash applied diagonally to open up the space.  The delightfully matched granite counter tops replaced the dull laminate.

We also took the gorgeous traditional raised panel maple cabinets to the ceiling and finished them with custom crown moldings. A tasteful glass door cabinet ideal for displaying china or glasses is next to the well-crafted double ovens. This former dark kitchen was brightened with the addition of recessed lights and elegant pendants over the island. The sparkling kitchen is resting on oak flooring which runs through the seating area and into the formal dining room, adding to the gracious appeal of the new space.

Now they have a functional and spacious kitchen with abundant storage capacity, well-appointed in every aspect and a joy to entertain in or just to relax with a cup of coffee.
