DIY or Hire Bathroom Remodelers for Your Bathroom Project?

Depending on the extent of your bathroom remodeling project, you may want to hire professional bathroom remodelers or simply do it yourself. Whether you have a minor project or want a total remodel, you should think about your project in detail before you start with demolition. The better you understand what will be required of the remodel and your abilities, the more likely you are to have success, with or without the help of professionals.

Here are some things to consider as you look at your options and decide which route you’re going to take.

Understand the Type of Remodel

The most basic of remodels might include changing out the sink and faucets, refinishing or painting the cabinets, and painting the walls. Most homeowners can handle this with a little assistance from YouTube or their home improvement store. However, some bathrooms, especially those in older homes around Amherst, Lowell and other towns, often need major remodels. When the major remodel consists of relocating elements, re-tiling and new vanities, you likely want to find local bathroom remodelers to get the job done right and faster than you may be able to do it yourself.

Know Your Limitations

Look at the extent of your project and think about what you’re really comfortable with – and what you can’t even imagine tackling. One example is replacing a light switch. For some homeowners, replacing a light switch and light fixture are not a big deal. For others, the thought of touching anything with electricity is terrifying. Unless you want to try to find an electrician to do the job, you might not want to consider DIY remodeling. Bathroom remodelers have contacts and electricians they can count on to do the job right and show up when needed.

Consider the Time Required

How long will the project take if you do the bathroom remodeling job yourself? Do you really only have a few hours in the evening and on weekends to get the job done? How long can you be without the bathroom? These are all questions you should ask yourself before you try to get started on your own. A bathroom remodeler will be able to give you a project timeline and, barring any unforeseen circumstances, get the job done within the timeframe promised.
