2022 Bathroom Remodeling Trends

In our last article, we shared some of the kitchen remodeling trends we love. We thought since the bathroom is the next most popular area of the home to remodel, we’d share some of the bathroom remodeling trends we love as well. Not surprisingly, they’re not all that different than the kitchen remodeling trends!

2022 bathroom remodeling trends

Color

We really didn’t expect to see wallpaper making such a comeback. And it’s not only one of the latest bathroom remodeling trends, but a whole-house trend. Wallpaper is a great way to add color and pattern to a bathroom. Another option is painted cabinetry. We also love some of the vessel sinks that are patterned and pieces of art. The three colors we’re seeing most are pink, blue and green.

Texture or Patterns

Again, the wallpaper trend fits right in with patterns and textures, however, there are many other ways to bring texture into your space. Consider installing your shower wall tile in a chevron pattern. Or, choose a floor or wall tile that’s not square or rectangle. If that’s not your style, choose square tiles and add in a few random tiles that are the same size and shape in a different color or pattern that compliments the primary tile. Of course, creating a mosaic on the floor or wall creates a statement all its own.

Bringing Nature In

If your bathroom doesn’t have a window, consider adding one. If the bathroom isn’t on an outside wall, ask about a skylight. If you do have a window and its frosted glass, consider putting in a window you can actually see out of. Of course, adding live plants is another way to add natural elements to your bathroom. If you have a brown thumb, there’s no shame in using fake plants. Two other ways to add natural elements to your bathroom remodel are with wood and stone.

Incorporated Tub Shower

This isn’t the same as a combination tub/shower unit. This is when the tub is placed in an enclosed area with the shower, sometimes referred to as a “wet room”. This is most common in a master bathroom remodel because it does require a large space. It’s a highly convenient option when you have small kids who splash in the tub a lot.

Storage Solutions That Really Work

We’ve been saying this for some time now. The linen closet is a dated concept that doesn’t provide the type of storage homeowners today really need. This is one of the bathroom remodeling trends we’ve been ahead of. If you have a linen closet, either inside the bathroom or on an adjoining wall, there are many ways to better utilize that space. Look at what you need to store and then work with your remodeler on choosing the right elements, whether it’s cabinet space, drawer space or open shelving. Two that we love are the cabinet that sits conveniently on the bathroom counter and floor-to-ceiling cabinets.
