We are seeking an experienced Accounting Assistant with strong attention to detail and time management to join our team. The goal of this position is to assist the accounting manager in ensuring all of the company’s daily accounting functions run accurately and effectively.
Areas of Responsibility:
- General Ledger
- Accounts Payable
- Accounts Receivable
- Payroll
- Job Costing
Typical duties include:
- Providing accounting assistance and support to our Accounting Manager
- Executing routine general journal entries while assisting in the preparation of monthly financial and operating reports
- Daily processing of accounts payable and receivable
- Setting up all new job contracts in the system and ensuring they adhere to company guidelines
- Following procedures for processing invoices and receipts and maintaining the client’s legal folder through closing
- Preparing and recording bank deposits as well as posting all client credit card charges to appropriate journals
- Updating reports for tracking new jobs and change orders along with invoicing, balancing weekly and distributing to management
- Processing biweekly payroll, including time card review and direct depositing
- Performing job costing for all jobs and subsequent change orders and generating cost accounting reports
Education & Qualifications Required
- Minimum Associate’s degree required
- Previous accounting experience in billing, finance, or other related fields
- Solid understanding of basic bookkeeping and accounting principles
- Accurate and efficient data entry
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Ability to work independently and in a team; must be able to prioritize
- Proficient with technology, including MS Office and accounting software
