What do you do when you love your neighborhood but have outgrown your house? For this Londonderry family, who host many family events and weekly church events, an expansion was the the answer.

The back of their 1980's colonial home was opened and a large 20 foot by 20 foot addition was constructed. Keeping the overall style of the home in mind, the new space included an open U-shaped kitchen, a sitting area complete with fireplace, and a small breakfast nook. Columns cleverly disguised support posts and were integrated into a multi-level countertop facing the newly enlarged dining room.

was added to the family room, encouraging cozy gatherings with family and
friends.
"This space is perfect, warm and inviting space when we are entertaining 10 or 40 people," the homeowner said. "The G.M. Roth team was just terrific! They took our ideas and made them even better. I can't say enough great things about them."
Warm oak was used throughout the addition, and repeated in the fireplace details. The countertops are Dakota mahogany granite and the porcelain tile floor blends the color palette and repeats in the fireplaces. Fewer wall cabinets were used in order to maximize the view in the open floor design. A bulkhead, previously on the outside of the house, was brought inside and designed as a finished staircase to a family room downstairs.
Jim Lambert, production manager, said: "One of the challenges in this project was the installation of power outlets in the floor of the addition. Since the floor was a concrete slab, the electrical feeds had to be installed before the concrete could be poured, therefore the homeowners had to envision furniture placement, early in the construction—not an easy task."
